Microsoft has launched the latest Windows 11 Insider build 22624.1546 to the beta channel, following a brief delay. A trimmed-down version of the update, build 22621.1546, is also available for the beta channel.

Microsoft has released the latest Insider Preview updates for its Canary and Dev channels in addition to the Beta channel update. These updates are available on a weekly basis for users subscribed to the respective channels.

In the beta channel, there are currently two builds available - one with all features and another with fewer features. The latest update includes a major release, Insider build 22624.1546, and a minor release, build 22621.1546.

The latest update introduces several changes to Windows 11's Settings, such as enhanced search performance, a limit on the 20 most recent tabs, and a new shortcut for opening the snipping tool, among other updates. A complete list of the changes can be found in the changelog provided below.

Enhancements and Optimizations in Build 22624.1546 for Improved Performance.

Settings

Enhanced Search Performance in Settings and Other Improvements. The latest update includes improvements to the search function within Settings for faster and more accurate results.

Default Print Screen Key Action Changed. Starting from this build, pressing the Print Screen key will open the Snipping Tool by default. However, users can disable this setting by going to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard. If you have already customized this setting, your previous preference will remain.

Recent Tabs Limit Introduced for ALT + TAB and Snap Assist. To improve multitasking efficiency, the maximum number of tabs shown in ALT + TAB and Snap Assist has been set to 20. Users can access and modify this feature by going to Settings > Multitasking."

Fixes in Build 22624.1546

Input

Resolved Issues with Text Input Features. In the latest build, we have addressed an issue that prevented text input features such as touch keyboard, voice typing, and emoji panel from launching correctly.

Improved Accessibility of Pinyin IME Settings. We have fixed an issue with the Pinyin IME's settings flyout where the buttons were difficult to see when in focus, especially when using a contrast theme. This has been rectified to improve visibility and user experience."

Task Manager

Performance Page Display Issue Resolved. In the previous build, we identified and fixed an issue where the Performance page would not display certain details correctly until the window was resized or the user navigated back and forth between pages. This has been resolved, and all relevant details should now be displayed correctly without any issues.

Search on the Taskbar

Temporary Issue with Bing Button on Taskbar Search Box. Users who have the Bing button enabled on the taskbar search box may encounter a temporary issue after restarting their computer. Specifically, after restarting, users may see the daily rotating search highlight for some time before the Bing button is restored. However, this is only a temporary issue and the Bing button should return shortly."

File Explorer

Issue with Shift + Right Click for Insiders with Access Keys in File Explorer. In the latest build, we have identified an issue with the "Show more options" menu that appears when using the Shift + Right click shortcut on a file or folder in File Explorer. Specifically, Insiders who have access keys enabled may find that this menu is not opening correctly when using the shortcut. We are currently investigating this issue and working on a fix."

Live caption

Known Issues with Enhanced Speech Recognition and Live Captions on ARM64 Devices. For ARM64 devices, users who have installed enhanced speech recognition support through the Language & Region settings page may experience issues when switching languages in the live captions Caption language menu. Specifically, the live captions feature may require restarting if you switch languages after installing enhanced speech recognition support. Additionally, certain languages shown on the Language & Region settings page may indicate speech recognition support but don't yet have support for live captions (e.g., Korean).

When adding a language through the Language & Region settings page, users may also encounter an issue where the language feature installation progress becomes hidden and the "Enhanced speech recognition" feature required by Live Captions may not show as installed (users can monitor progress using the language's "Language options" feature). If this happens, there may be an unexpected delay before the live caption setup experience detects the installed feature and allows users to continue.

Finally, users may notice degraded captioning performance in non-English languages and missing out-of-language filtering in non-English (United States) languages. This means that incorrect captions may be shown for speech that is not in the caption language."
